About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This elegant Portuguese hand-blown glass vase, produced in Marinha Grande during the 1960s, is a beautiful example of mid-century art glass craftsmanship. Featuring a refined hourglass silhouette with a gently rounded base, the vase is crafted from transparent amethyst glass enriched with striking white opaline organic inclusions suspended throughout the body. The flowing white decoration creates a beautiful sense of movement, while the rich purple tone catches and reflects the light, giving the piece remarkable depth and luminosity. Inspired by the celebrated aesthetics of Murano art glass, this vase combines Italian influence with the distinctive character of Portuguese glassmaking.
The vase remains in excellent original vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs, preserving its authentic beauty. It is an ideal decorative object for collectors of Portuguese art glass, Murano-style glass, and Mid-Century Modern décor, whether displayed alone or as part of a curated collection.
Produced in Marinha Grande, Portugal's historic glassmaking centre, this vase reflects a tradition dating back to the 18th century. During the 1950s and 1960s, the region became renowned for its innovative art glass, blending traditional hand-blown techniques with modern European design influences. Today, vintage Marinha Grande glass is highly regarded for its exceptional craftsmanship, artistic quality, and timeless appeal.
