Herman Miller Intermediate Chair, Designed by Charles & Ray Eames. Manufactured by Herman Miller, USA. Chromed aluminium frame with blue hopsack upholstery. Base equipped with swivel function. The intermediate chair was only produced by Herman Miller for 4 years and finally production was discontinued in 1972 in favor of the Alu Chair with softpad upholstery. This seating furniture was too elaborate, too expensive in manufacturing. Charles & Ray Eames themselves preferred the Intermediate Chair and chose this model for their office. Compared to the Aluminium Group Chair and with its seat pad it offers better comfort and certainly has a much more elaborate construction with striking details: Lines are more fluent and continue from the armrests into the rear side. The armchair is covered in original blue hopsack fabric. This fabric is absolutely robust and made for use over decades. It shows only minor signs of use and is in very good used condition with minor, age-appropriate signs of use. Further, it is possible to reassemble it with wheel casters instead of the white glides - the four-star foot has the same mounts for glides as well as wheel casters. Manufacturer/Brand: Herman Miller. Material/Technique: Natural leather, chromed steel. Size: W 60 cm x D 58 cm x H 84 cm. Seat Height: Approx. 45 cm, variable.
