The duo
Charles Eames was born in 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri, while Ray Kaiser (later known as Ray Eames) was born in 1912 in Sacramento, California. In 1941, Charles and Ray began working together on experimental furniture designs, using innovative materials and manufacturing techniques. Their breakthrough came in 1945 with the "LCW" (Lounge Chair Wood), a revolutionary plywood chair that combined comfort and aesthetics. Charles and Ray Eames were a visionary duo whose collaboration resulted in some of the most iconic pieces in the history of design. With an emphasis on functionality, aesthetics and durability, they designed furniture that was as impressive in form as it was in function. Their pioneering use of materials such as curved wood, fiberglass and metal gave their designs a unique and recognizable character.
