Verner Panton was a great Danish designer of the 20th century. He designed many pieces that have become design icons. Panton focused his career on research into innovative materials, the creation of modern lines and the use of bright colours. He is best known for the Panton chair, the Panton chair and the Cone chair, but he is also the creator of the grandiose VP Globe lamp. Designed in 1969, the globe-shaped suspension lamp was originally produced for the "Visiona 2" exhibition at the Cologne Furniture Fair in 1970. The piece was subsequently modified for mass production, but its technical characteristics remain as exceptional as ever. The VP Globe consists of a transparent acrylic sphere containing 5 lacquered or chromed metal reflectors. Its globe shape is characteristic of 1960s design: the style of the period was marked by the many Apollo missions and the world's attraction to the discovery of the space universe. Original, elegant and surprising, it's hard to resist the charm of this exceptional piece!
