Wiring from the 1960s and 1970s can become brittle, so budget for a rewire by an electrician if the seller has not already done so. How do I spot a genuine Louis Poulsen or Flos lamp?

Louis Poulsen stamps or labels the inside of the shade or the top of the canopy, and later pieces carry a sticker with the model name. Flos marks the base or the switch housing and often includes the designer's name. Compare proportions with the official model, since copies are frequently slightly off. Request photos of the markings before bidding, and remember that our curators have already reviewed the seller's attribution.

How are fragile glass lamps shipped?

Sellers pack glass shades separately from the frame, wrapped and boxed with plenty of padding, and shipping is insured so any transport damage is covered. Large chandeliers from Mazzega or Peill & Putzler may travel with a furniture courier instead of a parcel service. You can also filter for local pickup and collect the lamp yourself if you prefer to handle Murano glass personally.
