About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This is a wooden decorative object, possibly a tankard or bowl, with a lid and handle. The object is decorated with folk art paintings in red, white, and yellow on a brown background. Slight signs of wear are visible, consistent with its age. The object is dated 1981.
Traditional Swedish wooden Stånka mug, handmade and hand-painted in the Scandinavian folk art tradition. Decorated with floral motifs in white, red, and ochre tones, this charming piece features its original hinged lid and decoratively carved handle.
Originally inspired by historical Swedish drinking vessels, such examples became popular as decorative pieces during the mid-20th century. It is a beautiful addition to a farmhouse, rustic interior, or Scandinavian folk art collection.
