Yvan Theys (Marke, September 1, 1936 - Warcoing, July 1, 2005) was a Belgian painter, draftsman, graphic artist and sculptor. Together with Alphons Freymuth and Reinier Lucassen, he was one of the founders of the new figuration in the 1960s. This movement combined recognizable figuration, painted in an expressive style, with flat painted backgrounds, geometric symbols and lyrical elements.
