Product description
Elegant porcelain sculpture by the renowned Augarten Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, depicting a Lipizzaner horse and rider performing the classical “Courbette” movement of the Spanish Riding School.
The expressive sculpture is model No. 1595, designed by Albin Döbrich, and is crafted from white glazed porcelain. The underside bears the blue Augarten Vienna shield mark, the impressed model and production markings, and the inscription “Made in Austria.”
A horizontal grinding line is visible beneath the Augarten mark, indicating that the sculpture was classified as second quality / II. Wahl, most likely due to a manufacturing-related imperfection.
Condition
The sculpture is in an overall attractive vintage condition.
Small chip to one of the horse’s ears
Matt, unglazed area on the underside of the horse’s belly, probably a manufacturing-related glaze imperfection
Grinding line beneath the Augarten mark, indicating second quality
Delicate details such as the reins, stirrups and sword are present
