Product description
This fireplace screen reflects the sculptural ironwork of the 1970s, executed entirely in blackened wrought iron with an integrated woven wire mesh spark guard. The rectangular perimeter frame encloses an asymmetric wrought iron web, centered around a prominent three-dimensional spider sculpture mounted directly to the upper corner. The arachnid figure is crafted with realistic volume, featuring a rounded abdomen, defined cephalothorax, and individually articulated legs that extend across the iron filaments. The entire piece presents a dark, uniform blacksmith finish that emphasizes the textured surface of the metal and the precision of the hammer work. The screen is supported by a pair of arched trestle feet terminating in solid spherical finials, engineered to provide balance and stable clearance in front of an open hearth. Across the upper rail, a shaped horizontal transport handle is accented by coiled foliate volutes, allowing practical repositioning before the fire. In addition to serving as a functional barrier against flying embers, the dramatic figurative subject makes it an exceptional visual centerpiece for autumn and Halloween seasonal decor, as well as year-round gothic, brutalist, or eclectic interior schemes. Its proportions accommodate standard architectural hearth openings, functioning both as protective equipment and freestanding metal sculpture.
