Wooden mirror turned in a bamboo style, colonial/exotic — late 19th to early 20th century.
This rectangular mirror with retro charm features a turned wooden frame imitating bamboo, with its characteristic circular grooves evoking the natural knots of the plant. The posts extend at the four corners into pointed tips, a typical trait of the "faux bamboo" style that was highly sought after in France at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, a period when the fascination for colonial exoticism and chinoiseries strongly influenced furniture and decoration.
The glass, which shows a slight patina (age spots at the bottom of the mirror, see photo on white background), attests to the piece's antiquity without detracting from its charm. Height 73.5 cm Width 58.5 cm Depth 3 cm.
