Designed in the bold Memphis style (postmodernism), which was very popular at the time. Additionally, the geometric shapes and layered discs strongly reference classic Art Deco (Skyscraper style). Although the chrome variant was sold on a larger scale back then, this brass/gold-colored version is considerably rarer and is a sought-after collector's item today among vintage design enthusiasts.
This striking wall lamp by the German manufacturer Wofi Leuchten combines influences from the Memphis movement with the classic Art Deco skyscraper style. The design from the 1980s is characterized by a distinct geometric silhouette that immediately catches the eye and exudes a refined Hollywood Regency aesthetic.
The fixture consists of a rectangular black wall plate onto which a gold-colored, cylindrical metal housing is mounted. This cylinder features subtle vertical cutouts that allow light to pass through in a playful manner. On the front are three semi-circular glass discs of increasing size, creating the characteristic layered skyscraper effect. The lamp is equipped with the original wiring, including a white cord switch and plug, emphasizing its authentic condition from the production period.
The object is in good vintage condition with a characterful appearance. Over the years, the gold-colored finish has developed a light, natural patina that underscores the age and authenticity of the piece. The glass elements are intact and contribute to the bright light distribution.
