This is the Alleegasse armchair, designed by the famous Austrian architect and designer Josef Hoffmann in 1912.
This iconic model was originally designed for the furnishing of Dr. Hugo Koller's music room in Vienna.
The Austrian furniture manufacturer Wittmann produces this armchair as an official, high-quality replica within their Edition Hoffmann collection.

This armchair is finished in one of the colorful striped fabrics typical of the Wiener Werkstätte style and Hoffmann's designs.
When you search for the Alleegasse online, you usually see it in solid, muted fabrics (such as plain velvet, grey loden, or black leather). However, Wittmann traditionally supplies this chair
also with the original striped fabrics based on the historical designs of the Wiener Werkstätte (the
artist group of which Josef Hoffmann
was a
founder).
The fabric of this chair is one of the official Wittmann fabrics from this historical
collection (often referred to as the Streif collection, such as Streif 3 or Streif 4). Because most modern buyers nowadays opt for a safe, solid color, furniture with these specific, historical Streif patterns is rarely photographed for standard catalogues and almost never offered at auctions.
