Wiskemann – 2 original cutlery sets – 36 pieces – heavily silver-plated – Belgium – ca. 1930-1950. A magnificent collection of antique Belgian Wiskemann quality cutlery, consisting of 36 pieces in 2 original green cases. Composition: - 12 Wiskemann spoons in original box - 12 large table spoons - 12 large table forks - Total 36 pieces. The second set with 12 spoons and 12 forks is exceptionally heavy and weighs approximately 1.5 kg alone. The pieces bear various original Wiskemann markings, including: - WISKEMANN 24 - WISKEMANN 100 - corresponding Wiskemann factory marks. Wiskemann was a renowned Brussels silversmith and manufacturer of luxurious silver-plated cutlery, founded in 1872. The brand enjoyed an excellent reputation, particularly during the first half of the 20th century, and was widely used in upscale households, restaurants, and hotels. This cutlery presumably dates from the first half of the 20th century, circa 1930–1950. It consists of high-quality silver-plated metal and not solid silver. The designation "100" is used for heavy silver-plated quality cutlery and indicates a significantly richer silver plating than ordinary light silver plating. A beautiful classic model with elegant profiled edges and characteristic shaped handle ends. The two original antique cases are also present and enhance the collector's value. In good, authentic vintage condition with normal signs of use and age, and local patina. Can be polished further if desired. A particularly beautiful and heavy Belgian Wiskemann collection that is becoming increasingly difficult to find complete in original boxes nowadays. Price for both original sets together: 395.
