Product description
Van Scheijndel lived and worked in Leiden. Over the past 25 years, he has painted a large oeuvre and developed a unique style. Noteworthy are the female portraits he paints very figuratively from models, with a nod here and there to Art Nouveau. In addition, his women in landscapes have become very well known. He paints these from his memories of the many countries he has visited. Especially in the 1980s, Africa was central to his paintings.
Willem van Scheijndel's canvases have traveled far and wide, literally from here to Tokyo. His CV shows an impressive list of exhibitions throughout Europe, including the Louvre. And his sources never run dry. Willem van Scheijndel: "Being on the road, that is my inspiration. I experience that as a process of growth, a process without end. It is my personal ambition to create paintings when I am seventy that will leave you completely speechless."
Printed on paper, it shows a woman seen from behind with a child against a broad ocher-yellow background and a narrow light-blue horizon. Bottom left edition number 12/100, at the bottom titled “yellow shoes” and bottom right signed and dated 2001.
