Product description
This is an original watercolor from 1955 by the artist Pierre Roland. The work depicts a sailing yacht at full speed on open water, a classic maritime scene captured with a realistic and skilled hand. The composition and subtle use of color are characteristic of the mid-20th century.
The artwork is executed in watercolor on paper and is signed and dated by the artist in the lower left corner: 'Pierre Roland '55'. According to a note on the back, the work was purchased in 2002 and possibly depicts the yacht 'Jomy Boy' or 'mini Lady', located near the Amstelshavendijk at Amstelhoek. The piece is framed in a wooden frame with glass, which has protected the paper over the years.
The overall condition of the watercolor is good, retaining its original colors and without visible damage to the paper. The wooden frame is sturdy and functional, appropriate for the age of the work. This piece is an authentic example of post-war Dutch painting.
With its serene and nautical theme, this watercolor is a fitting addition to a classic, rural, or eclectic interior. The work comes into its own in a living room, study, or hallway, where it brings an atmosphere of tranquility and maritime history.
