Product description
Natural landscape watercolor painting, created by Giacomo Gabbiani in the 1950s. 36 cm wide, 26 cm high, including frame. Giacomo Gabbiani (Milan, September 18, 1900 – Salice Terme, 1989) was an Italian painter and engraver. He studied painting with Riccardo Brambilla and Giuseppe Amisani. In 1925, he began exhibiting in various shows: at the National Exhibition of the Brera Academy and the Permanente di Milano. His first solo exhibition was in 1928, at the Galleria Micheli. His first professional successes followed: in 1928, the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan acquired two of his paintings; in 1932, he was commissioned for a portrait for the Ospedale Maggiore's art collection; in 1939, one of his paintings was purchased by the Ministry of War. Also in 1939, he held an anthology exhibition in Rome at Palazzo Barberini. In the post-war period, however, with changing public tastes, he remained on the sidelines of the Italian art scene, despite continuing to work and exhibit: in Sanremo in 1956, and the following year at the Centro San Babila in Milan.
