This is the FK Tulip armchair, a design by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm for the German manufacturer Walter Knoll. This iconic model, also known as the FK 87, is a beautiful example of 1960s modernism, with its organic and sculptural form.
The seat is upholstered in warm, cognac-colored leather and rests on a swivel three-star base of cast aluminum. The shell-shaped construction, inspired by the bloom of a tulip, provides an enveloping and comfortable feeling. The design combines functionality with an elegant aesthetic, characteristic of the Danish duo's work.
The armchair has a lived-in character (with color difference in the cover and the chair itself and some dark spots: see photos) that matches its age. The leather has developed a clear patina, which gives the chair an authentic vintage look. The construction is sturdy and the swivel function works smoothly.
