MAARTEN VAN SEVEREN MVS Chaise Vitra 1999 Maarten Van Severen studied architecture at the Art Academy in Ghent. As a designer he was devoted to the examination of basic furniture types: chair, table, chaise lounge, shelving, cabinet. Van Severen developed primary solutions for these categories based on a comprehensive investigation of the questions of form, material and construction. The beginning of Van Severens collaboration with Vitra offered him the opportunity to work with new materials. The MVS lounge chair is a design from 2000. The resilient material adapts to the shape of the body and is quite soft and pleasantly pliable. The versatile frame structure makes it easy for users to alternate between a sitting and reclining position by simply shifting their weight. The chair stands in an excellent, almost new condition. He has only sporadically been used and is labeled underneath. The chair can be used in- and outdoor.
