Product description
The Freeform Sofa & Ottoman by Isamu Noguchi is one of the most recognizable designs within the oeuvre of the Japanese-American designer. The design distinguishes itself through its free, organic forms. The sofa and ottoman appear to stand almost sculpturally in the space, while the soft lines and low seat invite a more relaxed way of sitting. In this way, the Freeform Sofa is situated at the intersection of furniture and sculpture—a principle characteristic of Noguchi. This version is upholstered in Kvadrat Vidar 4, a high-quality upholstery fabric that gives the design a distinct and tactile appearance. The fabric emphasizes the organic form of the design while simultaneously adding depth and warmth to the whole. The combination of sofa and ottoman makes it possible to position the design in the room in various ways: as a cohesive whole, but also with sufficient freedom to adapt the composition to the environment. The Freeform Sofa & Ottoman looks great in images, but it is precisely the actual scale, the low seat, and the organic proportions that give the design its special presence. It is a design that not only allows itself to be viewed, but is also strongly defined by the way it occupies a space.
