The Vitra Alcove Plume Contract is a design by the French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. In 2006, they designed the Alcove for Vitra, which became known as a "room within a room". With the 2013 Plume version, they translated that idea into a lower, more homely sofa. The stitched, padded side and back panels give the Alcove its recognizable appearance. They are slightly higher than the seat and thus lightly enclose you, without the sofa appearing massive. The loose back and arm cushions make the sofa accessible and inviting. In bright red, the Alcove Plume Contract is an eye-catcher, equally at home in a lobby, office, or waiting area.
The Vitra Alcove Plume Contract has a steel tube frame with MDF panels. The seats are filled with polyurethane foam. The back and arm cushions have a feather filling, making them feel soft and full. This way, the sofa combines the firm support of a business sofa with the comfort of a lounge sofa. The fabric is sturdy and durable, with a fine structure, and finished with decorative edges along all cushions. The cushion covers are removable. The sofa is compact enough for a living room and strong enough for intensive use.
