Product description
This truly stunning brooch was made in a modernist, botanical revival style, likely between the 1960s and 1980s. At that time, many manufacturers produced affordable jewelry that resembled high-quality, handcrafted sterling silver jewelry. I had the metal of the brooch tested for silver, but the result was negative. The oval cabochon stone is likely a denim lapis lazuli or a sodalite.
Normal lapis lazuli has a deeper blue color and often some gold-colored speckles. Denim lapis lazuli is a lighter variant with more calcite, making the blue appear lighter. Sodalite is also a possibility, as this mineral also contains white tones mixed with blue.
PLEASE NOTE: when I found the brooch, the pin on the back was missing, so I have put a new pin on it. The brooch is in perfect condition.
