Vintage vase - Aldo Londi for Bitossi Italy - 1950 Hand-marked "462/18 Italy" H: 18 cm An exceptional, rare piece with magnificent colors. Beautiful alternating bands and black and green glazed pattern on a hand-cut brown pottery body. The bands are distinguished by their sharp edges. The lip and interior of the vase are glazed light brown. Excellent vintage condition, very little used. Aldo Londi [1911-2013] Painter and sculptor, but first and foremost a ceramist. In 1946, Londi joined the Cav. Usine G. Bitossi & Figli, a happy association lasting over fifty years, initially as artistic director. Londi fuses tradition and modernity. His natural penchant for research allows him to undertake bold explorations and define a new expressive language, stimulated by continuous technical experimentation.
