About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a refined ceramic jug, manufactured by the renowned French manufacturer Gien. The piece showcases the house's expertise in creating high-quality faience pottery. The jug is executed in a deep blue color and adorned with detailed, hand-painted motifs in the style of the Italian Renaissance.
The jug has a classic, pear-shaped body that transitions into a slender neck with a scalloped, flared spout. The surface is richly decorated with grotesques, putti, and mythological figures in warm orange, yellow, and earthy tones, creating a vibrant contrast with the dark blue background. The elegant, curved handle also features a decorative pattern, emphasizing the attention to detail. The interior is finished with a cream-colored glaze.
The overall condition of the jug is excellent, retaining the clarity of the colors and the integrity of the glaze. The piece exhibits a character appropriate for its age, without significant signs of wear. The bottom is marked with the castle stamp of Gien France, confirming its authenticity and origin.
This decorative jug is an elegant object that adds a touch of classic, European sophistication to any interior. It functions beautifully as a standalone decorative piece on a dresser, in a display cabinet, or as part of a ceramic collection.
