About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
The Plona folding chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in the 1970s, is an iconic example of innovative Italian furniture design. This particular model is distinguished by its striking silhouette and the harmonious combination of industrial materials with an organically shaped seat shell. The construction consists of a robust, silver-colored aluminum frame, which offers maximum functionality thanks to a sophisticated folding mechanism. The seat is made of transparent, brown Plexiglas, lending the chair a visual lightness. Made in Italy, the piece bears the original manufacturer's label, underscoring its authenticity and historical significance within the design canon. The chair is in good vintage condition, reflecting its history and use. The original patina of the metal and the characteristic texture of the plastic shell have been preserved, giving the object an authentic character. This versatile piece of seating integrates beautifully into modern or mid-century inspired interiors. Whether as a sculptural standalone piece in the living area or as flexible seating in the study, the design sets a clear architectural accent.
