Product description
A stunning designer Sputnik pendant lamp with brass and crystal. The lamp from the 50s is a real showpiece in the living room or kitchen!
Designed by Emil Stejnar from Vienna.
Stejnar was trained as a gold and silversmith. In the 1950s and early 1960s, he designed several hanging, ceiling and wall lamps for the Viennese lighting manufacturer Rupert Nikoll. He also designed mirrors decorated with crystal glass flowers. He often felt that his lights resembled stereo explosions. His most famous object is the Sputnik lamp, also called the Dandelion or Snowball lamp. His design inspired other Space Age-era designers to design their own futuristic lamps. His work belongs to the mid-century modern style.
