About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Bring a touch of authentic Portuguese mid-century design to your table with this charming pair of Secla ceramic salt and pepper shakers, produced in Portugal during the 1960s. Finished in a soft pink glaze, these elegant shakers feature a distinctive raised texture that beautifully resembles woven cord, creating a tactile surface that reflects the era's fascination with organic forms and handcrafted finishes.
Founded in Caldas da Rainha, Secla became one of Portugal's most influential ceramic manufacturers during the 20th century. Renowned for combining traditional Portuguese craftsmanship with modern design, the company collaborated with talented artists and designers to create pieces that remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Alongside the famous glass industry of Marinha Grande, Portugal's ceramic production—particularly in Caldas da Rainha—played a vital role in establishing the country's reputation for exceptional decorative arts. Secla's ceramics perfectly illustrate this legacy, balancing functionality, artistic expression, and outstanding craftsmanship.
This original vintage set remains in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. The only signs of age are slight color fading on the bases, consistent with careful use over the decades and adding to their authentic vintage character.
Perfect for collectors of mid-century modern, Scandinavian-inspired, or Portuguese vintage ceramics, these Secla salt and pepper shakers make a stylish addition to any dining table, kitchen shelf, or curated ceramic collection, celebrating the enduring quality and design heritage of Portuguese ceramics.
