Impressive XXL vintage base vase by Scheurich Keramik from the 1960s-1970s. This monumental piece immediately stands out due to its generous size, double handles, and a detailed relief frieze around the body depicting a traditional Central European village festival. A distinctive feature of this design is the strong contrast in finish: a matte, rough texture on the outside combined with a deep, glossy glaze on the inside.
Craftsmanship and Origin
Produced in West Germany by the renowned Scheurich Keramik. The object is marked on the bottom with 'W. GERMANY' and the form number '224-57'. The vase is crafted from heavy, robust earthenware and combines a matte, rough brown texture with a contrasting yellow-black folklore decoration. The inside and top rim feature a dark, glossy glaze.
Condition and Signs of Use
The vase is in neat, vintage condition. There are a number of small dents/chips in the glaze on the top rim (see detail photos). The textured decoration and the ceramic of the body and handles are otherwise completely intact.
