For sale is an exceptional mid-century set consisting of two rattan rocking chairs and a matching coffee table. The furniture combines finely crafted rattan/wickerwork with a delicate, black lacquered metal frame and likely dates from the 1950s or early 1960s. The design shows clear parallels to French and Brazilian design of the period and is particularly reminiscent of designs from the circle of Raoul Guys, Carlo Hauner, and Martin Eisler. However, we have not yet been able to identify any manufacturer or designer markings, which is why the furniture is being offered explicitly without a confirmed attribution. Particularly characteristic are the high, curved seats of the two rocking chairs, the wide-sloping metal rockers, the woven armrests, and the very light and elegant metal frame. The table echoes this design with a rectangular woven top and fine black hairpin legs, forming a harmonious ensemble with the two chairs. The furniture is in authentic vintage condition with age-related wear. The wickerwork is generally well-preserved, but shows some minor damage and signs of wear. The metal frames exhibit paint wear, patina, and some superficial rust spots. The condition is clearly visible in the photos. Due to the design and cohesive appearance, we would prefer to sell the set as a whole. Viewing and collection are possible. Private sale, therefore no warranty, guarantee, or returns.
