Product description
Original vintage Pipistrello Grande floor lamp designed by Gae Aulenti in the 1960s. This is the Model 620 Pipistrello lamp by the Italian manufacturer Martinelli Luce; it is an early example, dating from approximately the 1970s.
This iconic design by Aulenti was inspired by the wings of a bat, hence its elegant form and the name "Pipistrello." The lamp features a white lacquered metal base topped with a telescopic arm, allowing the height to be adjusted between 65 and 85 cm.
The shade is made of plastic and has a diameter of 50 cm. It is fitted with four E14 sockets, casting a beautiful, diffused light through the shade. Given its large size, it is perfect for use as a floor lamp.
The lamp is in good vintage condition with some signs of use. There are superficial black scuffs on the base and a few on the shade, as shown in the photos. Notably, the shade shows NO signs of melting on the inside—a very rare feature for a vintage model. It bears the Martinelli label on the socket. A base plate indicating the model and type is also present, though—oddly enough—it is for the "Serpente" model rather than the "Pipistrello."
