Based on Philips streetlights, originating from the former Philips factory sites in Eindhoven, we custom-make this modern pendant lamp for you.
This design transforms industrial heritage from the 1960s into a characterful lighting object for contemporary interiors. The lamp combines two authentic fixtures, giving a piece of Dutch design history a new function.
The lamp consists of two cast aluminum shades, equipped with the original pressed glass domes with a prismatic structure. This refraction optic ensures an atmospheric, diffuse light distribution and, at the same time, directed light downwards. The fixtures are mounted on a central beam and suspended by chains, emphasizing the industrial character. The lamp is available in various finishes, including copper, brass, and steel.
Each lamp is assembled from carefully restored vintage parts. The original fixtures have been professionally inspected, cleaned, and rewired for safe and reliable household use. The overall condition is excellent, retaining the authentic appearance inherent to the age and original function of the materials.
We sandblast the lamps and provide them with a new fitting and wiring. Coating is possible in almost any RAL color, but we personally find bronze and brass very chic!
With an E27 fitting, this fixture is suitable for all LED bulbs, Philips Hue, Zigbee, etc.
This double pendant lamp is a statement piece that comes into its own particularly well above a dining table, a kitchen island, or in a high void. The design bridges the gap between industrial, vintage, and modern styles and adds an element of historical depth to any space.
Background Information:
Research shows this to be the Philips HRL-10, although this fixture was also produced in the late 1950s in the U.K. by Eleco Limited.
It is still unclear whether Eleco was the designer and Philips sold the lamps under license, or vice versa. There is some discussion material on this, but it is not conclusive.
However, there is earlier information about the Eleco version from the 1959 catalog with type number 'HW.922 and the name 'Silver Ray Junior'.
