About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This set is a Persian chess set dating from the 1960s, made of bronze and solid brass. Each piece is designed as a figurative sculpture, giving the set a distinctive artistic and historical character.
Made in Iran, as indicated by the hallmark under several pieces, this chess set consists of 32 heavy pieces. The set is distinguished by its two-tone design, with one side in gilded brass and the other in bronze with a darker patina. The brutalist style and stylized forms are representative of mid-20th century aesthetics.
The overall condition of the set is good, in accordance with its age. The pieces have developed a natural patina that testifies to their history and adds to their authentic charm. The game is complete and retains its structural integrity.
As a decorative object or functional game, this chess set brings a touch of sophistication and history to an office, a library or a living room table. It fits perfectly into Mid-Century Modern, eclectic or classic interiors.
Height: From 3.5cm to 7cm high.
Weight: 2.3kg for the lot.
