The iconic Pendulum Balans chair, designed in 1983 by Peter Opsvik for Stokke, Norway. An exceptional piece of Scandinavian design that combines ergonomics, movement, and a distinctive design language.
The light beechwood frame is complemented by wine-red leather upholstery on the seat and back. Characteristic are the curved runners, which allow the chair to tilt forward and backward, enabling a variety of active sitting positions.
Opsvik developed the Pendulum as a counterpoint to the classic, static dining chair. The narrow backrest and the flexible construction are designed to encourage the body to change postures. The chair is suitable for standard-height tables and works equally well in dining and work areas.
A striking classic of 1980s Norwegian design.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear. The burgundy leather shows some wear, scratches, and discoloration; the wooden frames show slight signs of use.
