Vintage Oyako Kokeshi. This unique Sosaku Kokeshi (modern creative kokeshi) is a beautiful artistic tribute to the Japanese concept of Oyako (親子), which represents the unbreakable bond between parent and child. The symbolism of oyako is expressed in the design in a very distinctive way: Two connected heads: The artwork features not one, but two round wooden heads of different sizes. The larger head symbolizes the mother, while the smaller head is placed lovingly and protectively next to it to represent the child. The doll's body is shaped like a wooden barrel with grooves and held together by real rope. This gives the whole piece a sense of security; the barrel acts as a safe haven reflecting the nurturing aspect of upbringing and the family. By choosing pure wood textures and minimalist forms instead of traditional painting, the love and connection in this oyako theme acquire a timeless and modern look.
