Product description
Bring the sunny atmosphere of the Côte d'Azur into your home with this colorful ceramic set by André Baud, one of the leading names of the Vallauris ceramics era of the 1950s. The set includes a large jug with the signature "col pincé" (pinched neck) and eight beakers with hand-painted graphic motifs. The exteriors are in cream with black and yellow lines, while the insides are surprisingly brightly glazed in citrus colors such as orange, red, yellow and green.
Baud exhibited at the time alongside such luminaries as Picasso, Capron and Ramié. His work stands out for its clear forms, modernist simplicity and accessible, cheerful aesthetic. This ensemble is a vivid example of that: decorative as well as useful, with a distinctly French flair.
The set is in very good vintage condition. Four of the eight cups are completely flawless. The other four have small chips visible at the rim, which are hardly noticeable and do not disturb the use or appearance. Some light edge damage is visible on the pouring spout of the jug, as also shown in the photos. The set retains its visual strength and remains a rare example of Vallauris craftsmanship from the mid-twentieth century.

The set is in very good vintage condition. Four of the eight cups are perfectly preserved. On the remaining four, there are small, minimal chips visible on the rim. These are superficial and visually undistracting (see detail photos). Also present on the spout of the jug are some minor edge damages - discreet and appropriate to the age of the piece. The overall appearance and use remain fully intact, and the decorative effect is undiminished.
