Oil on canvas depicting a gathering scene, or genre scene, in a country atmosphere, with some figures picking fruit and others holding flowers.
A figure balancing on a ladder picks fruit from a tree and holds a basket, while another prepares to pick it up if it reaches out or falls.
In the center of the composition, a lady or elegant woman and a man hold small bunches of flowers, which seem to animate the two other figures around them, the man also holding a rake.
In the foreground is a wicker basket loaded with flowers.
To the left of the composition is a terracotta orange planter.
In the background, a round castle tower or dungeon and a stormy sky.
Two trees punctuate the composition.
The figures are dressed in typical 18th-century attire, the men in button-down jackets, silk stockings and flat buckled shoes, and the women in dresses, blouses and high-heeled pumps or mules.
