Forget today's chipboard beds; this is pure, artisanal craftsmanship from the late 50s! A beautiful, sleek, and solid oak single bed that will last a lifetime. Just look at the robust, visible wood joints – you hardly see that anymore.
The story behind this bed:
This bed is part of a unique family heirloom. When my mother (born in 1939) went to study in 1958, my grandfather specially commissioned a furniture maker for her. This carpenter made a complete, solid oak custom set, of which this bed is a part. It is therefore a 100% unique, unbranded piece of furniture full of character and history.
Details at a glance:
Material: Heavy, solid oak wood.
Includes: Sturdy slatted base. (this is new, the original spring base did not make it to the 21st century.
Style: Mid-Century Modern / Artisanal 1950s.
Condition: Very solid and in beautiful vintage condition with light characteristic signs of wear.
The bed can be disassembled for easier transport. A mattress can be included, but it's not mandatory.
💡 Tip: Complete the set!
From this exact same commission from 1958, I also have a wonderful oak spindle rocking chair and a mid-century oak bookcase for sale. Ideal if you want to furnish a room atmospherically and uniquely all at once!
Mattress size: Presumably 80 × 190 cm (the standard size from the 1950s).
(Please note: the exact dimensions cannot be measured to the millimeter at this moment, but a 190 cm long mattress will almost certainly fit here)
