This late 19th/early 20th-century Neo-Renaissance desk is distinguished by its richly detailed carvings of 16th-century animal, floral, and mythological motifs.
Its dark-stained oak frame is quite substantial.
It also features mythical animals and fantastical figures.
The writing surface consists of a large central drawer and two stacked drawers on either side.
A secret drawer is located inside the lower right drawer (key missing, unlocked).
The writing surface has a lengthwise crack in the wood, which has been previously restored.
The writing surface slides to optimize the workspace. On top rest tiered drawer units with a central niche.
A small arabesque decoration has also been visibly restored (see photo).
The Louis XIII-style twisted column base is H-shaped. This charming and authentic piece is very well maintained, with waxed wood.
