My jewel - this is how the French expression "mon bijou" should be translated, from which the form of the Rosenthal porcelain cup takes its name. It was created at the end of the 19th century during the European Art Nouveau, when the strong influence of French culture was felt in Germany in many areas. The form of "Monbijou" brings to mind the Louis Rococo style, both through its shape and the characteristic rocaille motifs embossed on porcelain.
