Product description
With quick strokes and translucent colors, Antonio Suárez depicts a jug with flowers in this still life. Despite being a traditional theme, this artist revisits it with great modernity in the combination of colors and textures. In this work, the artist's concern for chromatic rhythms, which convey a delicate lyricism, is evident, forming the core of his reflection. Signed in the lower left area.
Antonio Suárez is a renowned Asturian painter with a long and distinguished career. He was one of the founders of the group "El Paso" in 1975, a collective that renewed the Spanish art scene and which also included, among others, Antonio Saura and Rafael Canogar. His work is part of, among others, the collections of the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, the Museo Reina Sofía, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona, the Universidad de Oviedo, the Museo de Arte Abstracto de Cuenca, and several art galleries in Sevilla, San Francisco, Bilbao, Leverkusen, and Austin (USA).
An intuitive painter, always reluctant to execute any kind of preparatory study or sketch for his paintings. Antonio Suárez has made the interplay of matter and color the true center of his work, beyond the figurative anecdotes that may occasionally appear in his production.
