Product description
A beautiful and unique table lamp from the Maison Lucien Gau collection, a historic French luxury brand from Paris. In our opinion, the lamp has a great story. Please take a moment to read everything below.
First of all.
Maison Lucien Gau was founded in 1860 by goldsmith Charles Gau and is based in Paris. The company specializes in (self-)manufacturing, designing, and restoring bronze artworks, decorative objects, and at a later stage, also classic to contemporary lighting.
Such as chandeliers, bouillotte lamps, wall lamps, and table lamps.
Lucien Gau provided the bronze work and lighting for historical locations such as the Opéra Garnier, the Hôtel de Crillon, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The company also manufactured specific handmade lighting on commission for other and other companies.
The second part, the lamp and its story.
A beautiful exclusive Japandi/Mid Century style (with a classic ambiance).
The lamp measures (approx.) 53 cm high (as in photo 1), the shade is 32 cm in diameter at the bottom, and the base is 18 cm in diameter.
The lamp was once available in the collection with, among other things, a glass shade (under the name Corolla, type 24041). See the second to last photo for this.
On the last photo, you can see that a sticker is attached to the bottom with both the brand label + type number (24041) and a sticker indicating repair/reclamation.
After contact with employees of Maison Lucien Gau, it is possible that the fabric shade was placed to replace a damaged glass shade, or, and this has not been unusual according to the company, that for special customers the lamp was not equipped with glass, but as part of a special order. And that it concerns an internal sticker from the company's employees (service adjustment). We are currently still in contact with the company to possibly get more clarity on this.
In any case, you are purchasing a beautiful handmade lamp from a very renowned French design company. The lamp has a dark wooden base and a tapered stem, accented with chrome details. The lamp is equipped with a red textile shade. Slight signs of wear are visible on the edge of the wooden base. Otherwise, the lamp is in very good condition, the shade even excellent.
The lamp will be shipped (only) insured, with the shade carefully packed separately from the base (box in box in box). If your destination country is not listed, please contact us.
