About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This folding stool, model KH 72, is an authentic example of functional GDR design, manufactured in 1975 by VEB Starkstrom-Anlagenbau in Karl-Marx-Stadt. The piece embodies the pragmatic and space-saving design ethos of the time and can be transformed from a compact stool into a small step ladder.
The construction consists of a black lacquered tubular steel frame with galvanized steel connections. The steps are made of wood-based material and screwed into painted steel frames, ensuring stability. The seat is upholstered with foam on a wooden board and covered with durable red artificial leather, a typical material for this era.
The stool is in good original condition, commensurate with its age. The materials and surfaces show an authentic patina that underlines the character and history of the object. The mechanism is fully functional.
As a versatile piece of furniture, this folding stool is ideal for use in the kitchen, study, or library, where an additional seating option or a quick boost is needed. Its simple, industrial design fits well with vintage or eclectic interior styles.
