Japanese porcelain Satsuma-style koro. Decorative Japanese incense burner from the mid-20th century, made of porcelain with polychrome enamel decoration and richly applied gold lines. The compact vessel stands on four feet and has a matching openwork lid with a gilded finial. Object Details Object: koro / incense burner Origin: Japan Dating: approx. 1950–1970 Material: porcelain with polychrome enamel and gold decoration Dimensions: H 10.5 × W 9.1 × D 6 cm Weight: 50 g Mark: iron-red Dai Nippon (大日本) base mark Decoration The walls are divided into colorful figure panels with seated characters, large flowers, and stylized ornaments. Yellow, red, green, blue, and deep brown are connected by raised gold contours. The lid features floral enamel details and openings for the diffusion of incense smoke. Dai Nippon Mark On the glazed underside is a hand-painted iron-red Dai Nippon mark. The execution, color usage, and decorative technique place this piece within the Japanese export production of the mid-20th century. Condition Good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, and localized wear to the gold decoration, consistent with its dating.
