Product description
This is the 'Anna' chair, a vintage design by Karin Mobring for IKEA from 1963. This piece represents an important moment in the history of Swedish design, where functionality and a playful form come together.
The chair is entirely made of solid wood, finished with a vibrant red lacquer. It has two seat heights. The construction is remarkable due to its curved sled base that transitions into the legs, a triangular seat, and a rounded backrest supported by spindles. This compact and low profile is characteristic of mid-century Scandinavian design, where simple geometric shapes and bright colors are central.
The chair is in vintage condition, consistent with its age and use. The original red lacquer has been reasonably preserved and shows a characteristic patina that tells the story of the furniture. The construction is still solid and functional, testifying to the quality of early IKEA craftsmanship.
Due to its modest size, the 'Anna' chair is versatile. It is a charming child's chair, but can also serve as a decorative object, a unique plant stand, or an accent chair in an eclectic or vintage-inspired interior. It adds a touch of color and design history to any space.
The chair has not been restored.
