Vintage Framed Painting 1978 - Medieval Illuminated Style, Hunting Scene
Description:
I am offering for sale this beautiful vintage framed painting dated 1978, which incorporates the aesthetic codes of medieval illuminated manuscripts and ancient manuscripts.
The work, signed G. Delcusse, depicts a richly detailed stag hunt: riders in period costumes, hounds, game, and a banquet in the forest. The central composition is magnificently enhanced by a wide decorative border composed of floral and animal interlacing.
In the lower right corner, a scroll reveals an old maxim about hunting:
"Hunting dispels sorrows and bad moods and promotes health, for the fatigue one experiences leads to good food and good sleep, which is the best thing in Life and for Man."
