🏺 Vintage Chinese Famille Rose (Rosework) Vase – High-quality hand-painted studio piece, approx. 1960 – 32 cm
Height: 32 cm
A beautiful, completely hand-painted Chinese porcelain vase in Famille Rose / rosework style, dating from the 1960s (approx. 1960). This is not mass production, but a high-quality vintage studio piece with rich decoration and refined finish — now about 65 years old.
🎨 The decor
The vase is richly painted with a classic figural scene: a scholar teaching his students, surrounded by a garden landscape with rocks, peonies, and blossoming branches. Above the scene, a graceful butterfly hovers, a classic Chinese symbol of joy and prosperity.
Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove (竹林七賢, Zhulin Qixian)
The neck and shoulder are decorated with peonies — a symbol of wealth and honor — in lush shades of pink, yellow, green, and blue. The golden rim accents and the finely painted geometric "diaper" pattern on the shoulder attest to craftsmanship and a high degree of finish.
🏷️ The mark
On the bottom is a red, square seal mark in Chinese, characteristic of this type of studio work from the second half of the 20th century.
