A vintage wool rug handmade in the 1980s in Algeria, with tricolor stripes of pleasing reds, browns and blacks. The wool yarns are sourced from ethically raised animals and are hand dyed and processed by locals using traditional organic methods, hence the high quality finish. These specific carpets come from the rebellious mountains of Kabylia, where the inhabitants still speak the Amazigh Berber language. Traditionally, all young girls have a dowry for when they get married. Therefore, they weave a large quantity of textiles with the help of their mothers and grandmothers to bring to their new homes. All rugs must be washed in cold water and dried flat. Please note that two rugs are available, but the price is for one.CREATOR: UnknownPLACE OF ORIGIN: AlgeriaPERIOD: 1980MATERIALS
