About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This is a vintage lounge chair, shaped like a sculptural hand. The design is an iconic representation of the Pop Art and surrealist movements, transforming an everyday object into a functional and expressive piece of furniture. The chair is made of what appears to be white lacquered fiberglass, which allows for the flowing and organic lines of the hand. The palm of the hand forms a comfortable seat, while the fingers rise to create a supportive backrest. This design, reminiscent of the work of artists like Pedro Friedeberg, is a classic example of the playful and unconventional aesthetic of the mid-20th century. The chair is in good vintage condition, retaining its structural integrity and original form. The patina that has developed over time contributes to the authentic character of the object and tells the story of its past. It is a piece that functions as both seating furniture and an art object. As a striking accent piece, this hand chair is ideal for an eclectic or modern interior. The chair can be an artistic and unexpected addition to a living room, hallway, bedroom, or creative workspace.
