Product description
Rare and charming vintage Czechoslovakian faience fish service from the 1950s-1970s. Composed of six small flat plates, dessert size, and their matching serving platter, it adopts an elegant fish shape inspired by popular productions from Digoin or Sarreguemines of the same era. Spray-painted decoration in delicate shades of blue on a cream-white background, and very pretty shiny eyes.
The plates measure 21.5cm max length with the tail, 22cm max width at the fins, for 18.9cm useful diameter and 2cm height. The platter measures 37cm total length with the tail, 24cm max width at the fins and 20cm useful width. Very good general condition, close to new despite its age; one plate shows a discreet hairline crack on the upper fin. Presence of a slight natural crazing of the enamel on the platter and some plates, particularly on one of them, as well as very discreet wear of the varnish on some outer edges, possibly original. Very rare traces of cutlery. Approximately 200 to 250g per plate and 450g for the platter.
