Product description
This is a vintage table lamp from the Space Age era, crafted from plastic. Its design is a quintessential example of the period's fascination with spherical forms and bold colour palettes.
The lamp features a two-part spherical shade in a vibrant, glossy orange, which rests on a contrasting white trumpet base. This construction allows the top part of the shade to be removed for bulb access. The design is emblematic of 1970s lighting, where playful shapes and new materials like plastic were celebrated. When illuminated, the orange shade produces a warm, atmospheric glow.
This piece is in a good vintage condition, consistent with its age and use, but does have 2 hairline cracks and a melt on top. It retains its original character and components, including the electrical cord and switch, which contribute to its authenticity as a period item. The lamp is fully functional and presents with the patina of a well-preserved historical object.
As a functional sculpture, this lamp is well-suited for a side table, desk, or nightstand. It would serve as a striking accent in an interior styled with Mid-Century Modern, Retro, or Space Age decor, adding a pop of colour and a piece of design history.
