Product description
Old circular ceramic ashtray/empty pocket, made by the potter Eugène Alaphilippe (known as « Charliton ») (1879-1959) in Verneuil-sin-Igneraie (Indre), in the heart of the Black Valley. Dating from the years 1920-1935 (Art Deco period), it features a beautiful enamel on top with deep blue nuances, enhanced by slight raw earth protrusions. The base is left raw in red terracotta. It bears the handwritten and incised signature under the base: « Alaphilippe Verneuil Indre ». The object measures 14 cm in diameter, a little over 2 cm in height, and has 3 cigarette notches. It is in perfect condition, without chips or cracks and has never been used as an ashtray.
